Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The MaxTrax Walker is a medical device designed to provide stability and protected range of motion following trauma or post-operative procedures in the foot and ankle region. It offers a controlled rehabilitation environment by limiting ankle movement within a specific range. The device includes ROM settings between 45° plantar-flexion and 30° dorsi-flexion in 7.5° increments.
This walker is ideal for individuals recovering from specific conditions and surgeries, such as Achilles tendon repair. It is commonly prescribed for patients with acute ankle sprains, stress fractures of the lower leg, soft tissue injuries (grade II and III sprains), stable fractures and injuries of the foot and ankle, bunionectomies, metatarsal fractures, and Achilles tendon repair.
The MaxTrax Walker comes in a range of sizes, from pediatric to extra-large, to accommodate different patient needs. It has a wider footbed for increased stability, a one-piece liner design to avoid sewn seams near critical post-surgical areas, and swiveling D-rings for flexible strapping options.
This device offers patient comfort through its cushioned inner and outer sole, designed to absorb shock upon heel strike. The rocker sole design helps reduce plantar pressures during movement. Additionally, the malleable uprights can be adjusted to accommodate patients with shorter tibia/fibula, and the low-profile non-slip outer sole promotes a more natural gait.
Driving with the MaxTrax Walker may not be safe or legal in many places. It can significantly impair your ability to operate the foot pedals in a vehicle. Always consult with your healthcare provider regarding the appropriateness of driving while using this medical device.
It's essential to consult with your healthcare provider for proper sizing and fitting of the MaxTrax Walker. They will consider your specific condition, the required range of motion, and your body dimensions to ensure the device is suitable for your needs.
In most cases, you will need a prescription or a recommendation from a healthcare provider to obtain the MaxTrax™ Walker. This ensures that the device is used appropriately and effectively as part of your medical treatment.
Cleaning and maintenance instructions should be provided by the manufacturer or your healthcare provider. Typically, you can wipe down the surfaces with a damp cloth, and any removable liners or pads can be hand-washed according to the provided guidelines.
