The Best in Class, BioStim® M7 TENS device is a digital lightweight and fully functional dual-channel TENS unit w/timer. This TENS unit has 7 programmable modes including Strength Duration for maximum relief.
This device has a Patient Lock System that, when activated prevents the patient from changing any of the set parameters set by the physician. When the Patient Lock Systems is turned off, a Patient Compliance Meter is displayed showing how long the device has been used. A timer allows the patient to use the device for a specified period of time.
This device comes with everything needed to manage your therapy session and includes our exclusive proprietary Touch Proof design and robust Touch Proof lead wires only available on BMLS (BioMedical Life Systems) devices.
The device has seven programmable functions: continuous, width modulation, rate modulation, rate and width modulation, SD1, SD2 and cycled burst. It has a patient lock system that, when activated prevents the patient from changing any of the set parameters. When the patient lock systems is turned off, a patient compliance meter is displayed showing how long the device was used. A timer allows the patient to use the device for a specified period of time. The two channel device incorporates tough proof design and is run by two AA batteries.
What is Strength Duration?
With Strength Duration the amplitude, pulse rate, and pulse width are modulated in such a way as to stimulate 100% along the Maximum Sensory Threshold. Since stimulation along the maximum sensory threshold is constant, the effectiveness in pain relief is at an optimum.
But before understanding Strength Duration it’s best to first understand the two methods behind how TENS manages pain:
Gate Control
Also known as Gate Theory in which the Electrotherapy interferes with the pain signal being sent to your brain. This is achieved by setting a high Pulse Rate (80- 120Hz) which provides immediate relief to the affected area but relief is short lived. You should feel a Buzzing Sensation.
Endorphin Control
Also known as Endorphin Theory where the stimulation induces your body to release its own pain fighting chemicals called “endorphins”. This is achieved by setting a low Pulse Rate (2 – 9 Hz) releasing endorphins to the affected area in about 30-45 minutes of use. This provides long lived relief as much as 6 hours. This is recognized as a Pulsing or Thumping Sensation.
All TENS units can produce either Gate or Endorphin controls.
Only Strength Duration can do both simultaneously!
Strength Duration brings you the best pain management by combining Gate and Endorphin treatments in one!
“My TENS device has a Modulation mode, isn’t that the same as Strength Duration?”
Unfortunately no. A TENS unit’s modulation mode will typically only modulate (meaning increase and decrease) the setting for either the Pulse Rate or the Pulse Width but seldom both. The Modulation feature will also not provide low enough Pulse Rate (2 – 9 Hz) needed to release endorphins. This being said, the Amplitude in a device with a modulation feature is never automatically adjusted as in a unit with Strength Duration.
